Statement of Faith

OliveWood Academy is a non-denominational, hybrid homeschool community that believes  the expression of faith is not about structured Bible classes or rote memorization of Scripture but in the ways we love and care for one another on a daily basis as a community in ways that glorify God as we interact with one another.

We hold the following statements as the foundations of our faith and ask all families who are part of our community to carefully review them and understand that these beliefs may be openly expressed during their child’s time at OliveWood.

We believe:

  •  The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God.

  •  In forgiveness by and reconciliation with God which is available to all people through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man and is our representative and substitute through His death and resurrection.

We believe the Word of God is superior to any cultural movement, community understanding, or societal perspective.  OliveWood Academy has taken a definitive, non-negotiable stand on the following issues  based upon our understanding of what the Bible teaches.  These include the following:

  • Defending and supporting the sanctity of human life: Man is made in the image of God; beginning at conception (Psalm 139).

  • Marriage is to be defined as a bond between one man and one woman only (Genesis 2:18-25).  Therefore, heterosexual activity outside of marriage (e.g. premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex) and all homosexual activity is contrary to the biblical standard.

  • God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female.  These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). It is not acceptable to reject one’s biological sex as it is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
